In this week, we got to working on our new project “Parts of a Whole”. In this class we got to understanding and discussing our streams and the career paths we may want to pursue. We first got to discussing the intricacies of design and how they can possess sub parts and elements to it like research, material and purpose. I learned how each stream is different and unique in its own way and has something entirely different to offer to its respectful audience. My first choice of stream to pursue is “Communication Design”. I decided to experiment with mapping out the different elements and core ideas that come underneath it in order to better gauge what I’m looking for.

After mapping out my ideas, I got to understanding how multifaceted this stream can be. I listed these ideas out above in the form of a mind map. This helped me organize my ideas in a better way. I then narrowed all of these ideas down to three facets which I would want to purue: graphic Design, Book cover designing, and packaging. I have always been inclined towards the aesthetics of a product and how the artists thinks of their designs and ideas when they conduct it. I believe that there is still much to explore among the depths of this stream and delve deeper into facets I haven’t heard of but would love to get to know of and explore.
