In this week of our classes we got to reviewing the presentation we made on Nutrition and Food Habits. Concluding several issues that can result in an imbalance on this shown in the slide below:
We plan on further investigating this topic and targeting children between the ages of 10-18 as this is when their bodies grow and need the most amount of nutrition and nourishment. In order to impart this message we have come up with an idea for two modules and designs. We plan on creating an informative zine, that conveys the message of the importance of good nutritional habits, in an easy, fun a visual manner that depicts several pictorial pictures, graphs and issues that surround this topic. We also plan on creating an interactive food pyramid game. We plan on first creating an empty pyramid structure and allowing the kids to create an honest depiction of their everyday consumption of food (for eg, the bottom bar of the pyramid for one child might have illustrations of cheese or candy, meaning that they eat this the most, resulting in an unhealthy eating habit). After they are done with categorising their daily diet, we plan on showing them the ideal food pyramid so that they can compare their eating habits. This is to show them where they are lacking proper eating habits and how they can improve them.
Here is an example of a food pyramid we were inspired by in order to create this game:
