I’ve learned that the Gestalt principles are everywhere we go. Whether it’s in our homes, or on billboards outside or even on company logos. They help communicate ideas and pass on aethetically appealing messages in subtle ways without us even knowing. Designers and artists around the world use these principles to impart ideas and express themselves. I learned that it is important to learn because as an aspiring designer, I strive to do the same with my designs. I learned to observe everyday objects that consist of the Gestalt principles and photograph them on my camera.

I’ve realised that noticing these aspects in our daily lives is crucial as they help us gain a better understanding on how to create designs and art and express ourselves.
We further went on to creating 2D depictions based on chapters from the book “Invisible cities”. I really liked reading this book, because it personified the cities in them, giving them a face and actual distinguishable characteristics that were striking, unusual and fantastical, making the reader’s imagination run wild on its own. I created 3 depictions based on Cities and Memory, which speaks about an old man reminiscing about his time in a city and talking about its most admirable aspects. At first it was challenging for me to think about these aspects and create a mental picture about the book, but as I kept drawing and experimenting on paper, the more easier it got to do so.
