In the fifth week of our classes, we got to imagine more. We brainstormed ideas and thought of ways to create better designs and in reverse, worsen designs too, in order to understand the functionality behind a really good design. A design Idea that I thought about imporiving on was a backpack. The usual backpack has limited spacing and can only hold limited supplies. In todays world, students have a lot of books and school supplies to carry, making the bag too small for this to be done. I found this particularly hard when I was I school and always thought about how this could be improved. In order to do this, I came up with the idea for an elastic bag holder. Instead of having polyester or cloth bag which can easily tear and wear out with load, uhaving an elastic bag holder for the bag can be better and more convenient. It can stretch (from the sides) and let the person carry more supplies in it. Furthermore, I also came up with the extra zip idea. Travel suitcases have an extra zip to create more space for their extra luggage. I was inspired by this and thought about including this aspect in a school bag too, in order to accomodate for its large content size. This was the design I came up with:
