In this week, we got to finalising the ideas behind our topic: Nutrition and Food Habits. We finalised on an informative/ visual and graphic zine aimed at kids between the ages of 10-18. The visuals would make it easier for the kids to comprehend the ideas behind the zine and helps them connect it to the real life scenarios. We decided to make different section (like”eat breakfast”, “hydrate”, “balance your diet”) so that the audience can know exactly what they need to do in order to achieve and commence a healthy lifestyle.
The final zine:
The slides which I chose to make were “Eat Breakfast!” and “What is it?”. As a teenager, I have experience with skipping breakfast in the mornings whenever I’m in a hurry to go to school or college and directly eating my lunch at around 1pm with over 12 hours starvation overnight and in the morning. What researching this taught me was how important it is to eat your breakfast. It replenishes your supply of glucose to boost your energy levels and alertness, while also providing other essential nutrients required for good health. Most people, I’ve noticed do this which can be a very bad habit. Therefore I chose to visualise the benefits of eating breakfast and not skipping it daily in my slide.
Another slide which I chose to write was the “What is it?” slide which demonstrates and tells the reader what it means to have good and nutritious food habits, such as a balanced diet, avoiding smoking, drinking and fast foods, and taking in your daily intake of necessary nutrients.
According to me, I think that a balance diet should definitely be necessary for a healthy lifestyle. You shouldn’t have too much of something and too little of something. Therefore I chose to iterate this in the form of a poster by highlighting all the key aspects needed to eat smartly and lead a nutritious life.
